Answers to common questions about our services

Here are some answers to common questions about our services.

Question: How much does it cost? Answer: There are a range of fees for our services based, for the most part, on the service you are receiving, the educational degree of the therapist providing the service, and your financial circumstances. Our group fees range from $25.00 to $50.00 per session, and our individual, family and couples counseling fees range from $65.00 to $130.00 per hour. We may, in certain situations, adjust these fees as necessary. Our fees are subject to change without prior notice.

Question: I understand that you specialize in anger management and family violence. Can you help me if I don't have these issues? Answer: Yes. The fact that we specialize in anger management and family violence does not limit us from providing services to people who do not have these concerns. We regulary treat children, adolescents and adults for a variety of issues not related to anger management or family violence. Our speciality in these areas provides an added assurance to our clients that we can accurately assess and intervene if these concerns become a matter of clinical focus.

Question: Do I need to go through my insurance? Answer: It is up to you to determine whether or not you wish to utilize your health care insurance to cover your counseling services.

Question: Will you bill my insurance? Answer: While we do not submit charges directly to insurance carriers, we will provide you with a receipt listing the documentation required by many insurance carriers to provide reimbursement. We will work with you, as necessary, to help you in ensuring that your carrier has the information necessary to process your claim.

Question: Will I have to take medication? Answer: Our therapists do not prescribe medication. Many people find that they are able to sucessfully overcome psycholgical or emotional challenges without medication by making a commitment to the counseling process. You are always free to consult with your physician regarding medication, or may obtain a referal through our office to a psychiatrist in your area who specialize in the medical treatment of psychological disorders.

Question: How long does counseling take? Answer: While there is no single answer to this question, the duration of counseling often depends on the severity and duration of the challenges that have led you to seek counseling. Many people find that a commitment of 6 to 12 months of weekly counseling is effective in addressing their concerns. These people also find that the benefit of addressing their issues far outweighs the cost of not doing so.
