What if my husband won't get help?
We work with many men who come to us without fully understanding that they have a problem. They often believe it is their wife's "fault", that she needs treatment, that couples counseling is necessary, or that treatment is not necessary. Due to our specialty in this area, we are able to help men understand their own contributions to the "problem", and to develop the hope necessary for engaging in treatment. We find that many men are relieved to know that there is help available, and that they do not have to continue to live with the cycle of violence and abuse. In cases where your spouse may refuse help entirely, we may be able to help you through education and support, counseling, or through a referral to our local network of services for women living in an abusive relationship. Independent of any family member, you deserve to ask for, and receive help if you so choose.
